This incident has lead to public outrage in New York as the customers who were receiving Botox treatment at Joey Grant Luther’s medical spa are facing serious health issues like double vision , heart palpitations, difficulty in swallowing .It has been found that the clients were fooled by him, he made them believe that the illegal Botox was manufactured by the brand name Allergan but in reality he used to buy counterfeit Botox from China.
Being cognizant of the side effects of the chemical which he used in place of Botox ,he still played with the lives of innocent customers and carried out the treatment at the cost of client’s health. For profit maximization, he even demanded the supply of phony Botox for free. It has been found that one of his client who went under Botox treatment was diagnosed with Botulism , her condition worsened gradually , initially she noticed difficulty in swallowing, light- headedness ultimately leading to heart palpitations and slurred speech.
Joey was released on one lakh dollar. This illegal business of fake Botox treatment was unmasked when there was a raid on his business at the medical spa and it was found that almost 700 clients had undergone this Botox treatment and became victim to the skincare fraud .
