Jeff Dye Slams Sarah Hyland for ‘Rude’ On-Set Behavior

Jeff Dye has accused Sarah Hyland of displaying rude and tyrannical behavior while filming The Wedding Year. The comedian, who appeared briefly in the film, shared his negative experience working with Hyland during a recent episode of The George Janko Show.

According to Jeff Dye, Hyland mistreated extras and crew members, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere on set. He claimed her actions reflected the hierarchy in Hollywood, where lead actors are treated with excessive deference.

“In the short time I was on set, Sarah Hyland was the lead,” Jeff Dye explained. Although his role was minor, he said he witnessed enough to form a strong opinion about her attitude.

Dye alleged that Hyland was consistently rude and dismissive. He described her as a “pretty woman who chain-smokes and is terrible.” One incident he recalled involved Hyland complaining to director Robert Luketic about extras eating from the craft services table. “She was annoyed that some extras wanted some free granola bars, like it was her personal kitchen,” Dye recounted.

He also claimed Hyland strongly disliked him, recalling a moment when she told him, “You’re what is wrong with people.” Dye speculated her frustration stemmed from his personality, suggesting she was unaccustomed to masculine energy.

Another incident involved Hyland showing the cast and crew a trailer for the 2019 live-action Dumbo movie. According to Dye, her emotional reaction led the crew to sympathize with her. Wanting to disrupt the moment, Dye admitted he made an offhand remark: “That looks gay.”

“I didn’t even mean it. I just wanted to ruin the moment,” he confessed. The interaction reportedly took place on his last day on set, making it a fitting end to his experience.

Dye concluded by criticizing the industry’s tendency to cater to high-profile stars, saying, “She thinks she’s so important, and this is the whole industry.”
