50501 protests are gaining traction across the U.S. as citizens mobilize for a national day of action this weekend.
The 50501 protests refer to 50 protests in 50 states under one unified movement challenging what organizers call anti-democratic policies. Set for Saturday, the event includes local protests, mutual aid efforts, and teach-ins. It’s a response to the Trump administration’s recent actions.
50501 protests were first organized in February, growing into a decentralized movement focused on pro-democracy, non-violence, and constitutional integrity. According to national press coordinator Hunter Dunn, these protests are just one part of a broader, community-centered resistance movement.
“We’re against executive overreach and in favor of protecting democratic institutions,” Dunn said of the 50501 protests.
This weekend’s events include food drives in Southern California for wildfire survivors and those impacted by rising tariffs.
Dunn emphasized that protest is just the beginning — the true aim is to strengthen communities under threat. “It’s about preparing people for long-term change and support,” he noted, highlighting the deeper goals of the 50501 initiative.
The 50501 campaign expects close to 1,000 events nationwide this weekend. Dunn says even more may emerge spontaneously. The Tesla Takedown campaign is also participating, targeting Elon Musk’s influence in the Trump administration with over 100 protests planned.
Dunn confirmed Tesla Takedown is aligned with 50501 protests, unified by their principles of non-violence and democratic advocacy.
The movement continues to grow. The first 50501 protests saw about 80 events in 88 cities. That number is now increasing rapidly. The White House has not commented on the upcoming protests or the growing resistance across the country.
With the 50501 Movement expanding, organizers believe this weekend will mark a powerful show of grassroots strength and civic action.
