Wendy Osefo, star of The Real Housewives of Potomac, and her husband, Edward “Eddie” Osefo, were arrested following a police investigation into an alleged fraudulent burglary report at their Maryland home. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrests on October 9 after a grand jury indictment was issued.
Authorities claim that Wendy Osefo and her husband falsely reported a break-in at their Finksburg residence in April 2024. The couple alleged that more than $200,000 worth of jewelry, designer clothing, and other valuables had been stolen while they were away on vacation. However, investigators soon uncovered inconsistencies in the report.
During the investigation, police found that items worth over $20,000, which the couple claimed were stolen, had actually been returned to stores where they were purchased. Detectives also discovered photos of Wendy Osefo wearing some of the reported “missing” jewelry after the alleged burglary took place.
Following the grand jury’s review, a search warrant was executed at the couple’s home, and both were taken into custody. The sheriff’s office confirmed that Wendy Osefo and Eddie were charged with multiple counts related to fraud and false reporting. They were transported to Carroll County Central Booking and later released on bond. Details of the bond amount were not disclosed.
Just a day before her arrest, Wendy attended the Nigerian Independence Day parade in New York City, where she served as a grand marshal. She shared images from the event on Instagram, expressing gratitude for her cultural roots and for receiving a “Leadership and Impact” award.
Born in Nigeria and raised in the United States, Wendy has a Ph.D. in education and joined The Real Housewives of Potomac in 2020. Her arrest marks another controversy in the franchise, following co-star Karen Huger’s recent legal troubles involving a DUI conviction.
Despite the allegations, neither Wendy nor Eddie Osefo has publicly commented on the charges. The latest season of The Real Housewives of Potomac premiered October 5 on Bravo, with episodes airing Sundays at 8 p.m. ET.
