San Antonio Rodeo kicked off with warm weather but shifted to cooler February temperatures by Friday night. Despite rising costs, attendees can still enjoy the event at an affordable price.
Chris Derby, Chief Marketing Officer for the San Antonio Rodeo, explained the cost breakdown for visitors.
“For $35, you get a rodeo ticket, fairgrounds admission, and a concert. Nowhere else in town offers that much fun,” Derby said.
He advised visitors to plan ahead and arrive early, noting parking fees of $10 at the Blue Lot and $20 at the Gold Lot near Frost Bank Center. With large crowds expected, early arrival is recommended.
“Saturday will be packed,” Derby said. “We have Turnpike Troubadours, Southall, and a matinee show. Sunday kicks off with Zack Top, which will be a major highlight.”
Food prices remain high, with funnel cakes costing up to $19, giant western sausages priced at $21.99, and Texas-sized turkey legs reaching $23.99 before tax.
Madison Brown, a Boerne resident who attends annually with her family, shared her perspective on the San Antonio Rodeo experience.
“Each year, the city bounces back stronger. The atmosphere is always full of excitement,” she said.
She acknowledged rising costs but emphasized her family’s enjoyment of traditional Texas food.
“Prices are definitely higher, but we still love the rodeo classics,” Brown added.
Her father, Jason Brown, highlighted the event’s family-friendly atmosphere.
“I love the clean environment. They honor America with the national anthem and pledge of allegiance. It’s wonderful to share this experience with San Antonio,” he said.
He also praised the entertainment.
“Mutton bustin’ is our favorite! The concerts are always amazing,” Jason said.
The San Antonio Rodeo continues to bring excitement, tradition, and community spirit despite economic challenges.
