Two senior USAID officials were placed on leave after denying Elon Musk’s Doge team access to agency systems. The Trump administration took action following their refusal to grant entry, multiple reports confirm.
Doge personnel allegedly attempted to enter USAID headquarters in Washington, D.C., seeking classified intelligence reports. Security officials prevented access, citing strict clearance protocols. Frustrated, Doge members demanded entry and even threatened to call U.S. Marshals, CNN reports.
Officials John Vorhees and Brian McGill blocked access, following legal security requirements, according to the Associated Press. The move came just one day after Doge accessed sensitive Treasury Department records, including Social Security payment details.
Additionally, about 60 senior USAID officials were suspended last week. They allegedly attempted to bypass Donald Trump’s executive order on foreign aid. The clash between Elon Musk, USAID, and Trump continues to raise national security concerns.
